AC Installation · System Replacement

New AC installation done right the first time.

Most full replacements in this market run $8,000–$15,000 installed. The difference between a system that lasts twelve years and one that dies in eight is almost always the install — the sizing, the ductwork, the charge. We run a Manual J load calculation before we quote a size, because an oversized system is why so many Florida homes are cold and clammy at the same time.

Why the install matters
  • Load calculation before we quote a size
  • Our own crew — not subcontracted
  • Permit and inspection handled for you
  • Old system hauled and disposed
  • Labor warranty in writing, registered for you
  • Every step photographed on the invoice
Indoor air quality & ductless

Cool isn’t the whole story in Florida.

Humidity is half the comfort problem and most of the mold problem. And not every space wants a whole system — a garage, an addition, or a mother-in-law suite is often a mini-split job. We handle both.

Also handled on service calls: thermostats, surge protectors, ductwork, refrigerant leaks, condensate drains, and light commercial. Just ask your tech.

Why Firsthand Heating & Air

Straight answers, flat pricing, and a real arrival window.

01 / PRICING

You approve the number before we start.

Flat-rate pricing off a published book — not hourly, not "we'll see when we open it up." If the repair doesn't make sense on a system that old, we'll tell you that too.

02 / DISPATCH

A window you can actually plan around.

You get a text when the tech is assigned and again when he’s on the way, with a name and a photo. Same tech on your recurring visits wherever we can manage it. No all-day waiting.

03 / COASTAL

Built for salt air, not a catalog.

Within a few miles of the water, condensers corrode fast. We spec coated coils and stainless hardware where it’s warranted, and we tell you when it isn’t. We don’t compete on price by cutting the part you can’t see.

04 / DOCUMENTED

Every visit, photographed.

Every visit gets photographed in CompanyCam — before, during, and after — and the readings go on your invoice. No mystery line items. Property managers get the same report the same day, not at month-end.

05 / WARRANTY

Labor warranty in writing.

Parts carry the manufacturer's warranty; our labor is warrantied separately and registered for you so you don't lose coverage on a technicality.

06 / REFRIGERANT

We'll tell you the truth about R-410A.

New equipment has moved to R-454B. If you're on an older R-410A system, we'll walk through what that actually means for repair cost versus replacing — no scare tactics.

Membership

The plan that keeps you off the emergency list.

Almost every no-cooling call we run in July was preventable in April. Members get two tune-ups a year, front-of-line dispatch when it's 95° and everyone is calling, and a standing discount on repairs.

Rebates and utility credits

High-efficiency equipment can qualify for manufacturer rebates and utility incentives, and some coastal counties offer PACE-style programs for HVAC. We'll flag anything you're eligible for on the quote — but we'll never quote a bigger system just to chase a rebate.

★★★★★

AC died on a Sunday in July. They had a tech out same afternoon, had us cooling again before dinner, and the price was exactly what they quoted on the phone. No games.

Marcus R. · West Palm Beach
★★★★★

Got three quotes for a full replacement. Firsthand was the only one who actually measured the house before giving me a number. Install crew was clean, on time, and hauled the old unit.

Diana L. · Palm Beach Gardens
★★★★★

We’re on the Comfort Club now. Two visits a year, they text before they come, same tech every time. Wish we’d done it years ago.

Where we work

Palm Beach County and Martin County.

We stay inside a service radius we can actually cover same-day. If you're outside this list, call anyway — we'll tell you straight whether we're a fit or point you to someone who is.

Before you call

Questions we get every week.

How fast can someone actually get here?

If you call before mid-afternoon on a weekday, we're usually able to get you a same-day window inside our core service area. Peak summer weekends fill up early — members get dispatched ahead of the queue.

What does a new AC system cost in South Florida?

Most full replacements run between $8,000 and $15,000 installed. The spread comes from tonnage, efficiency tier, whether the air handler and ductwork need work, and permit requirements in your municipality. We'll give you a written number after a load calculation — not a phone guess.

Do you charge a diagnostic fee?

There's a flat diagnostic charge to come out and find the problem, and we waive it when you approve the repair. You'll know the number before we're dispatched — no surprises at the door.

My system uses R-410A. Am I in trouble?

No, but it's worth understanding. New equipment has transitioned to R-454B, and R-410A supply is tightening, which pushes the cost of large refrigerant charges up over time. On a system under about eight years old, repair is usually still the right call. Past that, we'll show you both numbers and let you decide.

Why is my house cold and still feel damp?

Almost always an oversized system. It cools the air fast, satisfies the thermostat, and shuts off before it's pulled enough moisture out. It's the most common installation mistake we find in Florida homes, and it's why we size off a load calculation rather than matching whatever was there before.

Do you work with home warranty companies?

We work directly with homeowners and property managers. If you have a home warranty claim, we're happy to provide documentation and a written diagnosis you can submit, but we bill you directly rather than the warranty company.
